Services
Walk and Talk Therapy is a simple way to get you moving, connected and outside! I offer walk and talk sessions for days when clients are seeking something calming for their body and mind.
Walk and Talk therapy can take place on a trail or at a local park. Ask me about some of the locations that we can go to for walk and talk sessions.
Walk and Talk Therapy is always a choice, and at the beginning of any session, I’ll work with you to come up with a different plan for that session if you aren’t into it.
I offer Telehealth Therapy sessions via my HIPAA secure platform. These sessions offer you the opportunity to participate in therapy services with Movemental Wellbeing from the comfort and privacy of your own home.
Many Telehealth sessions still involve some sort of virtual activity so that sessions can still be experiential and engaging. That being said, activities are always your choice and you always have the option to choose standard talk therapy via Telehealth.
Adventure Therapy is an experiential approach to therapy that gets you engaged in activities and adventures with the intention of learning about yourself. Most often, clients connect with the activity through metaphor, by realizing something about their thoughts processes and beliefs about self, or even by simply practicing new strategies in the middle of a challenge.
Adventure Therapy is always a choice, and at the beginning of any session, I’ll work with you to come up with a different plan for that session if you aren’t into it.
Some examples of activities that we might add into an adventure therapy session include:
- Hiking
- Kayaking
- Problem Solving Challenges
- Nature-Based Activities
If you are a therapist in New Hampshire, Massachusetts or Colorado and you are seeking clinical supervision or consultation with an experienced therapist who integrates Adventure and Outdoor Therapy into their practice, please inquire: nick@movementalwellbeing.com
The Therapy Process
The Free Consult typically takes about 30 minutes and gives both of us a chance to determine if we’re a good match for collaboration. This session isn’t just for you to evaluate me; it’s a chance for both of us to assess compatibility. There’s absolutely no obligation for you to commit to working with me, or any other therapist for that matter, if you’re not entirely convinced that it’s a good fit.
During this initial consult, I’ll invite you to outline your concerns and the reasons motivating you to pursue therapy at this specific time. We’ll talk about your background, current circumstances, and your goals for therapy. Based on our discussion, I’ll sketch out a preliminary understanding of your issues and talk about ways that I might be able to support you. After reviewing these points, you’ll have time to ask me any questions you might have about me, how I support clients, and what adventure therapy might look like.
As we wrap up this session, I’ll encourage you to reflect on whether you’d like to proceed working together. For some folks, this might be an immediate yes, for others, you might need a few days to think about it. Either way, if you choose to continue, the next step is to complete schedule your initial session!
Once you decide to move forward with therapy at Movemental Wellbeing, the next step is to book your initial session. Your initial session is where we get to know each other and discuss your current situation and background in detail. Because this session tends to be so thorough, it can take up to 90 minutes to complete, and it is scheduled for a longer timeframe than a normal session.
I use a convenient online scheduler that allows you to see my availability and find a session time that works for you. It will ask you select a date / time for our initial session and to provide basic contact information such as name, email and phone number. I’ll use this information to send you an invite to your client portal, which is where you will be able to complete the online paperwork.
If you would like to skip the free consult, or already completed it, and you are ready to schedule your Initial Session, click the button below:
Once you’ve scheduled a date and time for your Initial Consult, I’ll send you an email invitation to your Client Portal. During the sign up process, you will be asked to complete the necessary paperwork for us to begin working together. This paperwork includes documents such as: Therapy Services Contract, Privacy Policies, Liability Release and Telehealth Consent Form. The Client Portal makes this process very simple, and your signed copy of these documents will be available for your reference within your Client Portal.
Your Initial Session is meant to set the foundation for our work together. It tends to much more structured than a typical session because there are a lot of questions and information that I will be gathering to help me understand your background, your current situation and your goals for therapy. I strongly encourage clients to be as honest and open as possible during these questions, even though we are only just starting to get to know each other.
Toward the end of this session, I’ll put together a list of ideas for how I think we can move forward together. Later on, these ideas will be consolidated into your treatment plan, so while I tend to start the conversation with my ideas, it’s crucial that you engage in the conversation, share your thoughts and feel bought into our plan for how we’ll work together. For me, treatment plans are always worth revisiting, discussing, and adapting to meet your needs. You can always feel free to ask about where we are going, give feedback about what is or is not working, or share ideas about different directions you’d like us to go. This is your therapy!
Once your Initial Session is complete and we’ve agreed on a treatment plan, it’s time to begin the work of therapy. We’ll decide together what the right frequency is for our meetings and I’ll encourage you to try to find a regular appointment block for us to set up (i.e. Every Tuesday at 3pm). Once we have our first session under our belt, you will have the opportunity to schedule, re-schedule or cancel sessions through the client portal.
The healing and self-exploration that are part of therapy can take a while. Along the way, we’ll check in to make sure therapy is still meeting your needs and I’ll ensure that you are feeling and noticing progress. When the time comes where you feel that you have achieved your goals for therapy, we’ll collaborate on creating a plan for ending our work together. This is always an option, and I encourage my clients to check in with me if they believe they are ready to end our work together.
Cost of Therapy & Payment
Therapy is an investment in yourself, and I believe it’s important to be upfront and transparent about the cost of that investment. Below, I have included information about my rates and different payment options that are available. Please note – I do not charge different rates for different types of sessions. Regardless of whether you choose to participate in telehealth, adventure therapy or walk and talk therapy, my rates remain the same.
Therapy Rates
- Initial Assessment Session – 75 minutes – $200
- Psychotherapy Session – 50 minutes – $175
Payment Options
I accept payment through the following platforms:
- Cash / Check
- Credit / Debit Cards
- HSA / FSA Debit Cards
- Insurance (please read more below)
Insurance
I work as an “Out-of-Network” provider with all major insurance companies. Because “Out-of-Network” billing normally places the burden on the client to seek reimbursement, I have elected to work with a payment platform called Thrizer that will automatically submit any payment you make for therapy with Movemental Wellbeing to your insurance company for reimbursement.
This service is free to you if you opt for standard reimbursement. This reimbursement will depend on the details of your plan, and generally takes about 1 – 4 weeks to reach your account. Additionally, Thrizer has a service that allows you to pay only your portion of my fee at the time of service, such as your co-pay or co-insurance rate. They charge a 5% fee for this optional service, which I offer as a convenience to my clients. More information can be found here.
If you would like to inquire about your Out-of-Network benefits, I’m more than happy to help and can check the details of your plan for you, so you are clear on your financial responsibility. Feel free to mention this during your free consult, or call me at 603-803-3319.
